Nassau, Bahamas

Kosher Cruise Port Guide

Nassau is the capital of the Bahamas and one of the most visited cruise ports in the Caribbean. Located on the island of New Providence, Nassau combines colonial history, stunning beaches, mega-resorts, and vibrant local culture — all within easy reach of the cruise terminal.

Highlights

  • Atlantis Paradise Island — The iconic resort features a massive waterpark (Aquaventure), marine habitats, a casino, and beautiful beaches. Day passes are available for cruise guests.
  • Baha Mar Resort — A newer luxury resort complex on Cable Beach with pools, a golf course, and one of the largest casinos in the Caribbean.
  • Junkanoo Beach — A free public beach within walking distance of the cruise port. Crystal-clear water, lounge chair rentals, and beachside vendors.
  • Queen's Staircase — A historic 65-step limestone staircase carved by enslaved people in the late 1700s, leading to Fort Fincastle.
  • Straw Market — A bustling downtown market selling handmade crafts, straw goods, and souvenirs. Great for gifts.
  • Blue Lagoon Island — A private island excursion with dolphin encounters, sea lion shows, and beach access.

Tips for Kosher Travelers

  • Kosher food truck — Nassau has been known to have a kosher food truck near the cruise port area. Availability varies — check current reviews before relying on it.
  • Eat on the ship — The most reliable option. Have breakfast and lunch at the Solarium Bistro (Royal Caribbean) or your ship's kosher venue. You can return to the ship for meals during the port day.
  • Bring sealed snacks — For the beach and excursions. See our packing list.
  • Junkanoo Beach is walking distance — No need to book an excursion. Walk from the cruise terminal (about 10 minutes) to a free beach day.
  • Water taxis to Paradise Island — Quick, affordable boat rides from the port area to Atlantis. Much cheaper than Atlantis day passes.

Port Guide

Nassau is a pier port — your ship docks directly at Prince George Wharf in downtown Nassau. The cruise terminal is walking distance from Bay Street shopping, the Straw Market, and Junkanoo Beach. Taxis and tour operators are readily available at the port exit.

US dollars are accepted everywhere in Nassau (the Bahamian dollar is pegged 1:1 to the USD). Credit cards are widely accepted at resorts and restaurants.
